     Charles Peyton Glover was born on 7 June 1840 Montgomery County, Missouri.1 He was the son of Philip Glover and Sarah Koontz. Charles and Clarissa Rebecca Palmer, daughter of John Henry Palmer and Catherine Nowlin Graves, were married 28 December 1864 C P Glover & Clarrissa K. Palmer, m 29 Dec 1864; D. M. Keene, M.G. Palmer #745 pg 251/2 & Bk 1 pg 29.1,2 Charles Peyton Glover died 9 October 1922, in Portland, Multnomah County, Oregon at age 82 years, 4 months and 2 days.1

"Charles Peyton Glover, an Oregon pioneer of 1840, passed quietly away at his home in Portland, about 10 o'clock Monday night, surrounded by a number of his children, who had anticipated the approaching close of a long and well-spent life and were present to cheer and comfort their father and make his last moments comfortable and happy.
Mr Glover had not been in robust health for several months and since early in January his malady had prevented him from retiring to his bed, but during the long months of sitting in his chair he maintained a cheerful and patient dispositiona nd could enjoy his friends and relatives until the last. Until the last few days he was able to go about his home with but little assistance.
Services will be held at the family home in Portland, early this morning, after which, the funeral procession will leave for the Macleay cemetery where interment will take place at 12:30.
It is expected that the funeral party will reach Salem over the Pacific highway at noon today and proceed directly to the cemetery where the final services will be in charge of Rev. J. J. Evans of The First Christian church of this city and an old friend of the family.
Mr. Glover was born near Jefferson City, Miss., on Jun 7, 1840, and when a youth of 9 years crossed the plains to Oregon with his father and mother, brothers and sisters in 1849. There was a large family, only one of whom is now living, a brother, Samuel Glover, more than 91 years of age, who resides at Spokane, Wash. Another brother, James N. Glvoer, known as the "Father of Spokane," passed away in the city he helped to found last November.
Clarles Peyton Glover was untied in marriage to Clarissy R. Palmer in 1864 and they lived happily together until the passing of Mrs. Glover on February 3, 1886. Mr. Glover never remarried and will be laid to rest by the side of his wife in Macleay cemetery today. Eleven children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Glover, all of whom are now living. Lenora, never married and took the mother's place at the head of the family and has been with her father all the years since the passing of her mother, Laura is the wife of George Mink and lives in Porgland. Samuel Glover lives at Antelope, Ore., Wallace and Orange and Matilda, the wife of Clarence Turner, are also residents of Portland. Edith the wife of George Harber, lives at Albany, and Mabel, the wife of George H. Root, resides at Hermiston, Ore., Narcissa, the wife of Harvey Taylor, lives at Macleay and Ralph and Ronald are living in this city. As his large family of children grew up he gave close attention to their education.
Mr. Glover spent most of his life in Marion County, residing on the Glover donation land claim east of Salem. He left here in 1891, and went to Albany, where he resided until 1908, when he established him home in Portland. He devoted the greater part of his life to agricultural pursuits and took an active part in the political, social and business life of the communities in which he lived. He had an unfailing courtesy and kindliness toward his associates and leaves a wide circle of friends to mourn his passing."

Charles P Glover Passes at Age of 82

Greater Portion of Life Spent in Vacinity of Salem, Where Family First Settled.

Charles Peyton Glover, Oregon pioneer of 1849, died at his residence in this city, 5134 Seventy-second street southeast, Monday, October 9. He was 82 years of age.

Funeral services were held from the residence Wednesday, October 11, with final services at the Macleay cemetery east of Salem. Rev. J. J. Evans, pastor of theFirst Christian church of Salem, officiated at the grave.

Mr. Glover was born near Jefferson City, Mo., June 7, 1840. He came to the Oregon Country when but a boy in company with his parents. They settled in the vicinity of Salem and the greater part of his life was spent there on his donation land claim. In 1891 he moved from there to Albany and then in 1908 came to Portland.

He married Clarissa R. Palmer in 1864. He is survived by 11 children: Lenora Glover of Portland, Mrs. Laura Mink of Portland, Samuel Glover of Antelope, Wallace and Orange Glover of Portland, Mrs. Matilda Turner of Portland, Edith Harber of Albany, Mabel Root of Hermiston, Narcissa Taylor of Macleay and Ralph and Ronald Glover of Salem.

A brother, Samuel Glover, now more than 91 years of age, is living at Spokane. Another brother, J. N. Glover, now deceased, was credited with having been the founder of Spokane.
