Joseph Simmons was born on 2 February 1783 Prince George County, Maryland. A marriage bond was executed for Joseph and Charity Scott dated on 8 July 1806 Hardin County, Kentucky. The bond was signed by There is no "authority" listed in the Hardin County, Kentucky Marriage Register, nor indication of a bond, however the source in Meet your Ancestors must have been to a bond, as I did specifically make this a "marriage bond" rather than marriage.
For some reason, in the Hardin Co book,
the previous page (image 114) has headers of:
No., Date, Parties names, Upon What Authority License Issued, Ministers Return of Marriage. The dates on this page begin May 1849.
Image 115 has headers of:
Date, Parties Names, Authority.
The first date is August 2, 1805.
The following image (116) begins with Jany 1803, and the headers are:
Date of License, Parties Names to be Married, Consent of Parents, Witnesses who proved Certificates.
The following image is 1804, then, back to 1849, August. Looking farther, the pages seem to be in no particular order, with 1833 coming on image 189.
Even more strange is a record from Kentucky Compiled Marriages, 1802-1850 that gives the same date, but in Breckinridge County, a county to the west.1,2
