     Myra Charlotte Shafer was born on 29 July 1913 Lambert, Richland County, Montana. Myra's delayed birth certificate gives her baptismal certificate, as well as Lawrence Elmer Casper's birth certificate, as evidence of her birth place and date.1,3 She was the daughter of John Averil Shafer and Cynthia Ellen Parks.1 Myra and Lawrence Mirl Casper were married 8 June 1942.4,3 Myra Charlotte Shafer died 24 April 2004, in Nampa, Canyon County, Idaho at age 90 years, 8 months and 26 days.2

Services for Myra Charlotte (Shafer, Corbin) Casper, who died Saturday at home in Nampa, will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Potter Funeral Chapel in Emmett. Burial will follow at the Emmett Cemetery.
Myra was born on July 29, 1913, in Montana to John Averil Shafer and Cynthia Ellen Parks. She married Emmett Corbin on Oct. 15, 1932, at Vale, Ore. Mr. Corbin passed away in May of 1941. She met Lawrence Mirl Casper while living in Emmett. They married on June 9, 1942, in Shoshone, Idaho. During their over 50 years of marriage they lived in Oregon, Idaho, Washington and Montana, going where employment opportunities took them. Mr. Casper passed away in May 1994. She then moved to Atlanta, Ga., for a couple of years and then returned to Pocatello, Idaho, and eventually to Nampa in April of 2001.

Myra enjoyed knitting (especially baby sweater sets), crocheting, crossword puzzles and being around people. She was a lifetime member of The American Legion Auxiliary, member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, AARP, and Ladies Auxiliary of Veterans of World War I.

She is survived by three sons, Richard Casper, Spokane; Thomas Corbin of Schwenksville, Pa; and Lawrence Casper of Spokane; seven daughters, Ruth Laird, Boise, Idaho; Betty Smith, Idaho City, Idaho; Gloria Jones, Kennewick, Wash; Fae Casper, Atlanta, Ga; Shirley Winberg, Atlanta, Ga; Norma Jean Brata [sic should be Barta], Chubbuck, Idaho; Lyda Lowrance, Kennewick, Wash; 45 grandchildren; 68 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; and two unborn great-grandchildren and one unborn great-great-grandchild. She is preceded in death by her husband, three sons, a daughter, three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
