Arch L Jenkins was born on 31 January 1915.1 Arch and Patricia Imogene Johnson, daughter of Gerald Gommell Johnson and Florence Isabel Green, were married 1966.2,3 Arch L Jenkins died 18 March 2001 at age 86 years, 1 month and 18 days.1
Memorial service for Arch L. Jenkins, 86, will be from 4 to 7 p.m. March 30 at the Longhorn Barbecue in Airway Heights. Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Born in Gastonia, N.C., Mr. Jenkins died Sunday.
His family moved to Spokane in 1925, and he graduated from Lewis and Clark High School and Stanford University. During college he was a sports writer and later became editor of the Stanford campus newspaper.
He enlisted in the Army in 1942 and served for four years. He served in the Italian Theater and was discharged as a major.
Mr. Jenkins served in the 161st National Guard and in the Army Reserves.
He returned to Spokane and started Barnet-Jenkins, a wholesale food company, with his father-in-law.
In 1951 he became the business manager and then administrator of Rockwood Clinic. He retired in 1977.
Mr. Jenkins and his wife, Patty, moved to Honolulu in 1977, where they lived for 10 years. They later lived in Bellevue, Wash., and Kirkland, Wash., before returning to Spokane in 1989.
He was a member of the Hayden Lake (Idaho) Country Club, the Spokane Club, the Elks Lodge and Medical Group Management Association.
Survivors include his wife of 35 years; a son, Jim Jenkins of Spokane; two stepsons, Steve D'Assisi of Spokane and Larry D'Assisi of Redmond, Wash; a stepdaughter, Julie Reynolds of Vancouver, Wash; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.3
