Thomas and Hortense Reed, daughter of Dr Calvin C Reed and Alvira Brown, were married.
Thomas Applegate WPA Oregon Folklore Oral History on Umpqua Academy (Hortense Reed Applegate) has him as "Charles." However, there is no Charles in the census, except for his father. He may have been Charles Thomas, or Thomas Charles, but he does not appear as "Charles." The WPA may have been incorrect.2
