Graves of Houston, Texas; father of John Graves of Melbourne, Australia, Robert Graves and David Graves; father-in-law of Jennifer, Kathleen, and Elizabeth; grandfather of Alison, Erica, Christina, Jonryan and Geoffrey. Born in Oklahoma, he grew up in Seattle and moved to San Francisco where he attended Lowell High School. He graduated from the University of California. Berkeley in 1936, with a major in Economics. While there he rowed on the Varsity Crew and was a member of the Big C Society. After active service as an officer in the Coast Artillery during World War II, he was in the Army Reserve until 1966, retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel. He joined Coldwell Banker & Company in 1946 working as an Industrial Real Estate Broker until his retirement In 1982. He was a member of Oakland Rotary and later Rossmoor Rotary, and was a founding member of Elder of Grace Presbyterian Church, Walnut Creek. Friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service at Grace Presbyterian Church, 2100 Tice Valley Boulevard, on Thursday, April 17 at 3:00pm. Memorials may be sent to the Hospice of Contra Costa, 2051 Harrison St., Concord, CA 94520 or Grace Presbyterian Church.3
