     John Taylor Gray was born on 16 December 1870 Buckingham County, Virginia.1 He was born on 10 October 1870. Alternate Birthdate.2 He was the son of John Taylor Gray and Julia Randolph Trent. John Taylor Gray married Mary Eliza Trent, daughter of William Clough Trent and Mary Virgin Bonner, 12 October 1910 Claybank, Buckingham County, Virginia. They were third cousins.
In 1910, J Taylor Gray was living in "Curdsville, Buckingham County, Virginia," with his mother Julia Randolph Page. Presumably this was at Claybank.2 John Taylor Gray died 20 February 1955 , in Honolulu, Honolulu County, Hawaii at age 84.

John Gray Dies;
Rites Wednesday

John Taylor Gray, 84, of 1331 Center Street, Honolulu business man, died yesterday morning at the Queen's Hospital.

The cause of death has not yet been determined and an autopsy will be performed.

Mr. Gray had been hospitalized following a fall at his home February 9 when he broke his hip.

Graveside services are scheduled at 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Oahu Cemetery with Dr. William H. Fry officiating.

Mr. Gray, who came to Hawaii in 1916, was a vice-president of A. H. Rice and Company and vice-president and secretary of the Home Building and Loan Association.

METHODIST
He was a member of the Methodist Church and the Honolulu Realty Board.

Formerly, he served as a member of the Territorial Tax Appeal Board and was associated with Cooke Trust and Pacific Trust companies.

He was born December 16, 1870 in Richmond, Virginia.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Trent Gray; a daughter, Mrs. Harriet Guthrie who is expected to arrive tomorrow from Phoenix, Arizona; two grandchildren, Richard Gray and John Guthrie; two sisters and a brother on the Mainland and several nieces and nephews.3 He was buried Section 11, Lot 17, Oahu Cemetery, Honolulu, Honolulu County, Hawaii.

His grandson, Dick Guthrie, has many fond memories of their times together before and during World War II, when Dick's father was stationed at Pearl Harbor and the family lived "down the hill" from the grandparents.
