Thomas Eugene Campbell

     Thomas Eugene Campbell was born on 2 September 1925 Portland, Multnomah County, Oregon. He was the son of John Williamson Campbell and Hallie Viola Palmer. Thomas and Wanza Jo Baker were married 10 December 1971 Reno, Washoe County, Nevada. Thomas Eugene Campbell died 3 December 2006, in Long Beach, Washington at age 81 years, 3 months and 1 day.

September 2, 1925 - December 3, 2006 Ocean Park resident Thomas E. Campbell, 81, died December 3, 2006 in Long Beach. The only child of John and Hallie (Palmer) Campbell, he was born September 2, 1925 in Portland. Tom grew-up in Portland where he graduated from Jefferson High School.

In September of 1943 Tom entered military duty with the United States Navy. He served as an aviation electronics technician in the Asiatic Pacific area of action and was honorably discharged in November 1946. Following his military duty Tom attended Oregon State University where he obtained his bachelors degree.

Tom worked for Stouffer-Van Camp Foods as a quality control supervisor for 18 years. He then worked in the same capacity for Patterson Frozen Foods before ending his working career at Safeway Stores, retiring in 1986.

In 1999 Tom moved to Ocean Park. He enjoyed life by the ocean, fly fishing, crossword puzzles and golf.

Tom and Wanza Baker were married December 10, 1971 in Reno, Nevada. She survives residing at the family home in Ocean Park. Also surviving are daughters Janette Campbell of Lakeport, CA, Paula Vahey of San Leandro, CA, Leslie Sequeira of Brentwood, CA, Heather Campbell of Beaverton, OR and Sarah Campbell-Roos of Vancouver, WA; 8 grandchildren and 1 great-grandson. Tom was formerly married to Jean Elaine VanSeyoc.

Graveside service will be Thursday, December 7, 2006, 11:00 AM at Miller Cemetery, Silverton, Oregon. The family requests memorials to the Alzheimer's Association in care of Penttila's Chapel by The Sea, PO Box 417, Long Beach, WA 98631. The guestbook may be signed at www.penttilaschapel.com.
