Widely Known Man Passes to His Reward
In the death of Mr. W.P. Prewitt, which occurred Friday at Slate Lick, after a brief illness of stomach and bowel trouble, our county loses one of its most widely known citizens. Deceased was about seventy years of age and was a native of Garrard County. For twenty years he was engaged in general merchandise business, but he later took up the business of stockman and auctioneer and in this last named capacity he was a familiar figure on our streets at every county court. Mr. Prewitt was twice married, his first wife having been a Miss Sanders and his second wife Mrs. Palmer. He is survived by the following children: Messrs. James, Hampton and Sterling and Mrs. Sam Finnell, and Misses Ida, Lee, and Sula Prewitt, all of Kansas City. His interment took place Sunday in the Richmond cemetery under the auspices of the Masonic Lodge.
