     Alvina Brown was born circa 1811 New York. She was the daughter of Benonia Brown. Alvina Brown married Calvin Reed.

Craig Hudson has her last name as Brower. However, the Reed history, and the history of Jones County, Iowa, has family name as Brown, with her father may be Benonia Brown.

"John G. Joslin, Benonia Brown and others, with their families, came in the months following the arrival of Russell, and, in 1839, there were along the timber border of the prairie eighteen log dwellings, all, except one or two over the line in Linn county, being in Fairview Township."
