The Nowlin Stone Genealogy lists children to include "Annie; born 1868", Samuel S, b ca 1870, and Lucy Scott, b ca 1872.

The 1880 census has Anna, 8, and Samuel, 6.

The 1870 has neither Annie nor Samuel. The youngest child in that census is Fannie, b Sep 1869.

There is no Lucy Scott Nowlin anywhere, but she could be a cousin.

There is a child listed on the GFS as born in 1878:
Lucy Scott Nowlin (1366) was born in Sept. 1878 in MO, and died after 1930. She married Buell Fount Hensley about 1909. He was born about 1876 in MO, and died before 1930. This family was recorded on the 1910 and 1920 censuses in Montgomery Co., MO. Lucy and David were recorded on the 1930 census in Montgomery Co., MO.
Children - Hensley
+2058. David Rust Hensley, b. 2 April 1912, m. Apphia Thwing Hack, d. 9 Aug. 2002.
She does not appear in the 1880 census. There is, however, a Lucy Hensley, no birthdate, listed as "sister" and living with Samuel Nowlin (the lawyer) in Montgomery in 1930.

In 1910, Buell Hensley is listed in Montgomery, age 34, m1, married one year, and wife, Lucy S, 31, m1, no children.

They are listed in 1920 with the noted child, David R, 7.

There is a Death Certificate for Lucy Hensley, widow, dated 27 Sep 1955. Parents are listed as Samuel Nowlin and Elizabeth Graves.

Perhaps Samuel married Elizabeth after Lucy Catherine died, she had the child (named Lucy after the deceased wife), and died herself. Perhaps Lucy is living with other relatives.

In the 1880 census, SS has children Elizabeth, David M, Fannie B, Anna and Samuel in the household. Lucy Scott, stb b 1878, is not there, but his sister Catherine (who married "Roker") is, along with a George B "Nowlin" and M E Shelton, hands.

Neither Lucy is in the household. Lucy Graves has died, and Lucy Scott must be with other relatives, but who?

On the US IRS Tax Assessment Lists, 1862-1918, for the year 1866, Samuel S Nowlin, of Hilrush, was taxed as a "Succession." One Timothy B Dutton, aslo of Hilrush (or Kilrush) also had that designation.
