Washington Graves was born circa 1805. He was the son of Peyton Graves and Charlotte Pinkard. Washington and Mildred Berger, daughter of Jacob Berger and Catherine Nowlin, were married 14 January 1833 Pittsylvania County, Virginia, WASHINGTON GRAVES MILDRED BERGER 14 January 1833 Pittsylvania.1 Washington Graves died 25 December 1875 , Montgomery County, Missouri.2
He appeared on the census; On the 1850 census of District 61, Montgomery County, Missouri, Washington Graves is shown with David, 11, Lucy, James, 1, and Abram C Shelton, 15, Elizabeth Shelton, 9, and Thomas Graves, 13.

Washington Graves is listed in several genealogies as "William Washington" with no explanation for the seeming conflict with his brother William. They both married Berger sisters, Lucy and Mildred, which may have given rise to this problem. However, unless someone has a document with both these names on it, I will continue to use Washington.
